Fox C-6 School Board Votes to Move Forward With Zero-Tax Increase Bond Issue

Fox C-6 Proposition M Graphic

On January 13, 2026, the Fox C-6 Board of Education voted to place a zero-tax-rate increase bond issue on the ballot for the upcoming election in April. If approved by voters, this ballot initiative would generate $48 million of bond funding to be used for capital improvements, safety enhancements, and early payoff of leases. The bond issue will not increase the current tax rate, and will be known as Proposition M, which stands for:

Maintain our Schools

  • Upgrade aging roofs at facilities around the district
  • Upgrade aging HVAC systems at facilities around the district.

Modernize our Safety Measures

  • Install lockdown-capable classroom door hardware at all school buildings
  • Install additional exterior door access controls and door monitors at all school buildings
  • Install an emergency notification system at all school buildings

Manage our Resources

  • Pay off the existing lease for Antonia Middle School and multiple school buses

Beginning in October of 2025, the District hosted five different Community Learning Sessions to inform the public and gather important feedback from participants. Additionally, we spoke with staff at every building, and students at all of our secondary schools regarding the issue. At each meeting, people had the opportunity to fill out surveys to rank their highest priorities. A survey was also emailed to the entire school community. One of the key takeaways from that survey is that 89 percent of more than 700 people who participated state that they’re extremely likely or somewhat likely to vote ‘yes’ on a potential zero-tax-increase bond issue in April 2026. Results were very consistent across the board, with nearly 50 percent of people determining that HVAC was the highest priority, followed by roofing at 39 percent. In the safety portion of the survey, the top three priorities were also very noticeable. 79 percent of respondents noted that safety enhanced exterior doors, lockdown capable classroom doors, and a rapid incident response system are the most important features to them.
